Submissions
REMAKE accepts submissions from current first-year students of any work produced during their first year of undergraduate study.
Submitted work may have been completed independently or for course credit but should be previously unpublished. We accept all manner of written work (including essays, fiction, poetry, and research), visual art (including digital art, painting, photography, and sculpture), and other multimedia projects.
Submissions are accepted from October 1 to May 31. Accepted work will be published in an annual print and digital issue released in late summer/fall featuring work from the previous academic year.
Are You a First-Year Student?
We aren’t interested in defining what it means to be a first-year student—we just want to showcase what they make. So, we’ll leave the defining up to you… If you meet any of the following criteria, then you’re in the right place.
You are enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and consider yourself in your first year of that program (as opposed to second year, third year, etc).
You are returning to undergraduate study after a hiatus and did not previously complete a full year of study toward the degree you are seeking.
You are beginning a new undergraduate degree program after having previously begun or completed a different undergraduate degree program.
We aren’t concerned with things like credit hours, age, or area of study. However, we are looking for work from undergraduate students actively enrolled in a degree program. If you are in your first year toward a bachelor’s degree or other undergraduate degree, then yes… you’re a first-year!
